Donald's relationship with his conservative son Gene never recovered after Donald came out and split with Gene's mother twenty-five years ago. Now in his sixties, Donald and his husband Patrick are surprised by a visit from Donald's rarely seen seventeen-year-old grandson, Joey, who happens to be a sporting a black eye. Joey announces that he also is gay and will be heretofore living with "grandma and grandpa." Gene and his wife Amy must now chase down their son to Donald's house for an impromptu family reunion. Both couples are in dire straits for various reasons. Amy and Patrick become allies as the two in-laws, and Donald and Gene each have strong feelings about the other's parenting abilities. And Joey is going down swinging. Uprooted Theatre and the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center are proud to present a reading of this new play, directed by Uprooted artistic director Dennis Johnson.

Shaia Fahrid is the owner of Astor Street Dance Studio in Milwaukee. She directs two student troupes, Serpentine Dream and Extreme Taqisim, which perform all over Wisconsin and Illinois. This is their fourth year at PrideFest! Shaia invites other area dancers to join in their stage performance; among them are Galatea, Kish Kish, Layali, Jeannette and Shelby Daft. Shaia also produces a monthly hafla, or belly dance party, at the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center.

9:00pm - Brian Firkus

Brian Firkushttp://www.myspace.com/brianfirkus

After leading the charts at Number #1 for three straight weeks on Internet radio site WestSideWill, Brian Firkus' track "Where the Grass Is Much Greener," became the title song match that lit last summer's album release, "Greener," up into the sky in a blaze of fireworks. Fresh out of his Junior year of college, Brian Firkus is thrilled to be doing something at Pridefest besides just eating. After last summer's successful release of debut album "Greener," Brian and hispartner Matthew Walton have appeared at the Miramar Theatre, The Rave, the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center, as well as several cabaret venues in the city. Brian and Matt return to the stage with a new direction reflecting personal and artistic growth. Brian's influences range from Elvis, to Lady Gaga, and even to Craigslist. His drag performances, unique subject matter, and on-stage antics set him apart from the sea of "guys with guitars." Brian keeps busy working toward a BFA in Musical Theatre at UW-Milwaukee and works as a freelance makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics. It seems like nothing can possibly keep Brian Firkus away from his charming music; and no one's complaining.
Brian's CD, "Greener", will be available for purchase at the merchandise booth.

6:00pm - Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You by Christopher Durang

Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For youPresented by the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center
http://www.milwaukeegayartscenter.org

Sister Mary Ignatius, a teaching nun who is much concerned with sin in all of its various forms, delivers a cautionary lecture to her charges. But when several of her former students turn up the picture darkens, along with Sister Mary's indignation. Their stories are disturbing—but also very funny—and it is quickly apparent that one thing they all have in common is their loathing for Sister Mary and theunyielding dogma that she forced on them in their formative years. In the end there is mayhem and bloodshed but, with this, the unsettling feeling that, amid the laughter, some devastating truths have been told. This production was originally produced as part of the GOD & GAYS one act play festival, directed by Alan Piotrowicz. (Presented through special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.)

6:00pm - The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler

The Vagina MonologuesPresented by the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center
http://www.milwaukeegayartscenter.org

An Obie Award-winning play, providing a poignant and hilarious tour of the ultimate forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues is a celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery. In this stunning phenomenon that has swept the nation, author Eve Ensler gives us real women's stories of intimacy, vulnerability, and sexual self-discovery. The Milwaukee Gay Arts Center is proud to present this production of The Vagina Monologues, featuring an entirely local cast, originally staged in conjunction with the 2010 V-Day Campaign to end violence toward women and girls around the world. Now, the vagina monologists take Pridefest by storm, introducing audiences to a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who "liked to look at it." Directed by Alan Piotrowicz. (Presented through special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.)
