The Sports and Activity Director for PrideFest has the overall responsibility
of providing typical physical and/or competitive activities and events
for the PrideFest festival. These activities may include such things
as:
- Open sports play such as volleyball or basketball
- Organized sports tournament play
- Organized walk/run activities
- Open light activity play such as darts, cards and other
games
- Organized light activity tournaments
The Sports and Activity Director is responsible for developing the
contact and connections to community groups that participate in these
types of activities. The Director is also responsible for developing
the budget, determining the logistical needs (volunteers, equipment,
etc), and working with the Entertainment and Operations Directors to
integrate these activities into the festival.
In addition, the Sports and Activity Director is responsible for developing
activities that enhance the exposure and reputation of PrideFest outside
of the festival weekend.
The Sports and Activity Director is expected to attend regular monthly
meetings with the PrideFest Production Team and as needed with the PrideFest
Producer(s), Board of Directors, and the community at large. The time
commitment is dynamic. As with producing any festival, the commitment
is light at the beginning of the festival planning cycle and increases
as the festival draws closer. This is a new position so an estimate
of the time required is not available. It would be reasonable at this
time to expect to spend several hours per month until early spring,
with an increase after that. During festival weekend, the Sports and
Activity Director is expected to be at the festival grounds for as many
hours of operation as is practical, and will assist other areas during
the festival as needed. |
